If anyone knows how precious life is, it is someone who knows their life is soon to end. Terminally ill people live everyday to the fullest and even in the face of death they go on to enjoy what time they have left. He says that to do so, you have to work and play well with others. He explains how to live like this by giving three simple rules; tell the truth, apologize, and wait until people show you their good side. He wanted to remain happy through life and death and to reflect on how he dealt with his struggles in the past. This advice was given to the audience because he wants to let the listeners know that whatever you are going through there will always be a light in the times of darkness.

Accepting your mortality
Blessed are those who mourn: for they shall be comforted. The realization of death will cause a person to become an emotional rollercoaster. The emotion of grief can be a confusing state of being that makes a person feel lost and discombobulated. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary the term grief is used interchangeably with bereavement which is the state of losing a loved one and grief is the emotional response to the loss of someone that the bereaved has a personal bond to. When somebody dies after a long illness, the time which leads up to death is often difficult for those who care for them.
The reason this thought came about was because of the horrible things Ralph did to him when they were twelve. These memories were so vivid that the only seemingly just thing to do was to kill Ralph. Even though he tried to refuse the truth for the right reasons, the moment he got the slightest bit of prodding he fell apart into denial and eventually acceptance in a destructive form.
